Frequently Asked Questions

What is Quirky Moose?

Quirky Moose is a furniture brand based in Copenhagen. We design, engineer, and build our pieces in small batches in our own workshop — combining playful design, real craftsmanship, and materials made to last.

Where are you located?

Our workshop and home base is in Copenhagen. Our business address is Otto Busses Vej 21, 2450 København SV, Denmark.

What kind of furniture do you make?

We make a range of designs: wall-mounted shelves, seating, cabinets, coat racks, and shelf systems built around framing the things you love — for example our NicNac display shelves, the Balance wall cabinet, the Grounded shoe rack, the adjustable Wasteless wall shelf, and more. Every piece is designed to look good and work in everyday life.

What materials do you use?

We use high-quality materials such as Valchromat®, solid oak, birch plywood, and machined metal details (brass, copper, steel) depending on the design. Where we can, we choose materials with an eco-conscious profile: Valchromat® is coloured all the way through and made from wood-processing by-products, our birch is FSC®-certified, and surfaces are finished with plant-based Rubio Monocoat® hard wax oil. Everything is chosen for durability, depth and a long life.

Can I order custom sizes, colours or finishes?

Often, yes. Many of our pieces can be adapted in size or configuration, and we keep a curated palette of finishes — through-coloured fibreboard (Valchromat®), natural wood tones and metal accents. If you have a space with particular dimensions or a specific tone in mind, send us your measurements or idea and we'll tell you what's possible, how it affects lead time, and the cost before you commit.

How difficult is assembly?

Our products are designed to be straightforward. Most arrive either fully assembled or as modular kits with a guide and the necessary hardware included. Step-by-step installation guides are on the site, and if you get stuck you're always welcome to write — we'll walk you through it.

Which walls can I mount on, and is the hardware included?

Screws, wall plugs and an installation guide are included with our wall-mounted pieces. They suit most standard walls — drywall, brick and concrete — when you use the right anchors. For special substrates, use anchors recommended by your local hardware store. If in doubt about a heavy piece, we recommend a professional fitting.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes — we ship across the EU and to the United Kingdom. Prices are shown in your local currency at checkout.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is free in Denmark on orders over 999 kr. For orders below that, and for deliveries to other EU countries and the UK, the shipping cost is calculated and shown at checkout before you pay.

Do you ship to the United Kingdom?

Yes. UK orders are sold without VAT. On delivery, UPS collects a handling fee (and any applicable UK import charges) before your parcel is released.

How long does delivery take?

If the item is in stock, we ship it within 2 working days. If it's made to order, we produce it first — expect around 3 weeks before it ships. You'll always get a shipping confirmation when your order is on its way.

How does shipping work for larger furniture?

For pieces too large for normal parcel delivery, we use a freight carrier. Delivery is to the curb (street level) unless otherwise arranged, and additional charges may apply for non-mainland or hard-to-reach addresses.

How do I track my order?

Smaller parcels are sent with GLS, who email or text you when your package is on its way and ready for pickup — so keep an eye on the address and phone number you provide at checkout. For freight deliveries we'll coordinate timing with you directly.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal. All prices include VAT, and we charge no card or transaction fees. For international cards, the amount is reserved immediately and charged when your item ships.

What is your return policy?

As a consumer you have 30 days from the day you receive a product to tell us you want to cancel. Once you've notified us, you have 14 days to return the items. Please contact us first (by email or via the standard withdrawal form) for instructions. Refunds are made to the same payment method you used, unless agreed otherwise. If a product has lost value because it's been handled more than needed to inspect it, we may deduct for that.

Who pays for return shipping?

If the return is due to a defect or a justified complaint, we reimburse reasonable return shipping costs. If you simply change your mind, you cover the return shipping unless agreed otherwise.

Can I return large items that can't go by normal post?

Yes. For pieces like cabinets, tables or custom units that can't be returned as ordinary parcels, the return may need freight or special handling. The maximum estimated return cost for such items is 1,100 kr (unless otherwise agreed).

What warranty do you offer?

On top of your statutory rights under Danish and EU consumer law, we give a 5-year warranty against manufacturing defects. If something goes wrong due to materials or workmanship within that period, we'll repair or replace the item at no extra cost (depending on the situation). The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, accidental damage, misuse, or deterioration from lack of care.

How do I start a return, repair or warranty claim?

Email us at hello@quirkymoose.com with your order number, photos of the product, and a description of the issue or your return request — and we'll guide you through the next steps.

How do I care for and maintain my furniture?

Wipe surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry straight away — avoid abrasive pads and harsh or solvent-based cleaners. Our pieces are finished with plant-based Rubio Monocoat® hard wax oil, which you can refresh over time with Rubio Monocoat® Refresh to revive protection and sheen. Always test a small, discreet area first.

How do you handle my data?

When you place an order, we collect your name, address, phone number and email. We keep this for up to five years, then delete it, and we only work with data processors inside the EU or in countries with adequate data protection. You can ask to access, correct or delete your data at any time.

How do I make a complaint?

If you have an unresolved complaint, contact us by email and we'll do our best to sort it out. If we can't reach a solution, EU consumers can use the EU online dispute resolution portal at http://ec.europa.eu/odr, and Danish residents can escalate via Nævnenes Hus (Toldboden 2, 8800 Viborg).
