At Quirky Moose...
we make colourful, characterful furniture by hand in our Copenhagen micro-factory. Micro-factory means just what it sounds like: a small workshop, short production runs, and a real person — not a production line — behind every piece. Every cut begins with a measurement we take ourselves.
We build from materials chosen to keep their looks for years. The coloured surfaces across our range — seats and tabletops, the Balance cabinet, the NicNac shelf, the shelves on Wasteless and the wall protector on Grounded — are made from Valchromat®, wood fibre board that's coloured all the way through, so a scratch reveals the same colour underneath rather than bare board. Bases and legs are FSC®-certified birch plywood: light to look at, strong in use.
Every piece is hand-sanded and finished with Rubio Monocoat®, a plant-based hard wax oil that deepens the colour, adds a silky feel, and shrugs off everyday spills. It takes longer than spraying on a lacquer — and it's why our surfaces age gracefully instead of wearing thin.
