Wall Coat Racks

A coat rack has two states, full and empty, and most of them only look right in one. Full, they look cluttered; empty, they look bare. That is the part to get right, because a coat rack hangs in the one spot everyone in the house passes twice a day.

These are wall-mounted, so the floor stays clear. Solid oak with brass hooks on a steel core, handmade in our micro-factory in Copenhagen.

A rail or a single hook
Adapt is the rail, in five lengths from 50 to 200 cm, for a hallway that has to take a whole household. Anchor is the single hook, for the spot beside a door where a rail would be too much.

The Floor Stays Clear

A rail on the wall keeps coats out of the walking line. In a hallway you already pass sideways, that is the difference between walking through and squeezing past.

Solid Oak and Brass

Brass hooks on a steel core, set into solid oak and finished in Rubio Monocoat®. A coat rack is grabbed more often than almost anything else in the house, so the parts you take hold of are the ones built heaviest.

Every rail is cut, sanded and oiled by hand in our Copenhagen micro-factory, with the most-used lengths kept in stock.

Empty Is Half the Life of a Coat Rack

Coat racks are photographed full and live half their life empty. Through the summer, or any afternoon when the house is out, what hangs on the wall is the rack itself.

Adapt is drawn for that half too. A slim oak rail with the brass hooks spaced to read as a line rather than a row of pegs: loaded with winter coats it still shows its edge, and bare in June it looks like it was meant to be there.

Wall Coat Racks in Danish Design

A wall coat rack leaves the floor free and puts everyday coats where you reach for them. Ours come in two forms: Adapt, a rail in five lengths from 50 to 200 cm, and Anchor, a single oak hook for the spot beside a door where a whole rail would be too much.
